Profile

Matthew was Managing Partner at Hugh James from 1999 to January 2011 when he stepped down to take up the post of chief executive of our bespoke volume business Hugh James Involegal.

Previously, he was a partner in the commercial property department, acting for numerous housing associations, private developers and major high street and specialist lenders on site acquisition, development and financing. He established and developed the firm's secured lending department before setting up the firm’s first volume operation in 1999 in response to demand for a volume financing capability from several national lenders. He has considerable experience of developing bespoke outsourced volume operations for a variety of financial sector and corporate organisations.

During his time as Managing Partner, Matthew rationalised the business structure and focus of Hugh James, driving the strategy of providing both consultancy and volume service areas across retained service lines. He was instrumental in consolidating the firm's operations into a main Cardiff HQ office with a London satellite, developing Hugh James into the largest indigenous Welsh law firm servicing both commercial and public sector organisations in Wales and across the UK.

As chief executive of Involegal, Matthew is now responsible for the strategic development and expansion of the volume businesses. Involegal brings together all relevant skills and expertise in this specialist field to deliver greater efficiency through process automation, improved leverage and standard operating processes.
